Cheap Pound Sees Big Boost in Metal Exports

During 2008 whilst the Pound has been gradually weakening exports of metal in unitised (by trailer) and loose form (by container with tipping chassis) have been increasing. However, following the collapse of the recycled market within China, great leaps have been made since November and FFG has seen a significant rise in shipments especially to Italy.

FFG International are in a strong position to react to demand for shipping since we are one of the very few providers of containers with tipping chassis in Europe and also have substantial availability of trailers for unitised products.

A word of caution though, as we expect container prices to Italy to increase in February as our suppliers attempt to recoup some of their losses due to the 35% devaluation of the Pound against the Euro in 2008.
